Data science techniques in health care research
I have developed a project based seminar in which graduate students perform a data science project and apply econometrics using publicly available health care data based on the US Medical Expenditures Panel Survey and the US National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey.
This course is part of Data Campus at University of Duisburg-Essen, an initivative to improve data literacy of students. We develop a resource to perfrom a reproducible research project using health care data for graduate students. Stay tuned!
Case study teaching
Case studies in health care management
I have written two case study texts in German languange, edited as part of a case collection for Public Administration scholars (Ritz A, Blankart CR, Jacobs CD, Lienhard A, Radulescu D, Sager F, editors. Praxisfälle Public Management: Ein multidisziplinärer Ansatz mit konzeptionellen Bausteinen. Wiesbaden: Springer Fachmedien; 2021)
Case 1 discusses comparative advantage and strategy of the mail-order pharmacy business:
Case 2 discusses market access and pricing of new pharmaceuticals with a focus on stakeholder management:
This is a selection of readily available case studies that I regularly teach to Master level students of Medicine Management at University of Duisburg-Essen. Educators can obtain full texts of the case study texts for free from Harvard Business Publishing.
